Diesel Service Technology Instructor - Burns Flat Campus
Full time, 10 months annually (August through May)

Anticipated start date: August 1, with 3-4 training days in June or July
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To train students in Diesel Service Technology.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Students enrolled in program.
REPORTS TO: Certified personnel staff position assigned to the Director of Instruction, who is responsible for supervision and evaluation. Evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the board's policy on performance appraisal reviews for certified personnel.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate degree or ability to obtain; three to five years related experience and/or training.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Oklahoma Commercial Driver License. Have or obtain T&I teaching certification Provisional Level 1 or higher within first year of employment with progression as required to Provisional 2 and Standard.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Operate general test equipment, lifting devices, cranes, hoists. Ability to operate equipment associated with the Diesel Service Technology program. Thorough knowledge of general management practices and teaching methods. Ability to deal effectively with the public and school officials. Good working knowledge of the operating practices of vocational education. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, ability to establish good rapport with department staff, users, vendors and others is essential. Ability to operate office machines, type, work with various software.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Maintain instructional lab facilities, tools and equipment required for instruction.
2. Select, modify, improve and supplement instructional materials.
3. Maintain continued contact with the community through an active advisory committee concerning occupational requirements, current trends, equipment and placement opportunities.
4. Instruct students in the proper safety, use and care of equipment, supplies, materials, furniture, and facilities.
5. Provide students with individualized and group instruction utilizing a variety of instructional techniques.
6. Instruct students in the importance of accuracy, neatness in appearance, efficiency and good work habits in obtaining employment.
7. Sponsor and/or co‑sponsor an active SkillsUSA chapter.
8. Work cooperatively with counselors and academic center personnel to provide educational services for students.
9. Maintain a clean and orderly classroom, laboratory and office.
10. Select and schedule live projects on the basis of competencies to be taught.
11. Order materials and parts. Keep accurate records of projects used for instruction.
12. Maintain a folder for each student to include: attendance records, make‑up work and emergency data.
13. Evaluate each student's performance based on knowledge, skill and attitude gained in the area taught.
14. Organize instructional time so that classroom instruction and laboratory activities are accomplished within the allotted time.
15. Maintain accurate inventory records.
16. Assist students in dealing with or obtaining appropriate assistance with personal, social and career development issues.
17. Assist in providing students an opportunity for work-based learning in a job related to the instructional program and placing students available for employment upon completion of the program.
18. Work cooperatively with other instructors, administration and staff.
19. Attend and participate in staff meetings, professional development workshops and conferences sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education each year and other conferences and workshops as required.
20. Maintain a professional attitude through participation in professional organizations.
21. Maintain professional competence through participation in the staff development plan, in‑service education activities.
22. Assist in implementation of school board rules, regulations and policies.
23. Continue current occupational skills development through update training opportunities offered through vendors, industry representatives and/or organizational groups.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places; in outside weather conditions; and with explosives and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Counselor - Sayre Campus
Full time, 10 months annually (August through May)

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provide students with information on career options, advise them on appropriate educational paths to meet their career goals and provide support for success in career majors. Administer assessment instruments such as interest inventories, aptitude tests and achievement tests or acquire the results of assessments to provide information for guidance in career major selection and placement, career counseling and necessary academic assistance. Serve as testing liaison between the ODCTE and WTC.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
REPORTS TO: The Sayre Campus Director and the Director of Student Services, who are responsible for supervision and evaluation. Evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the board’s policy on performance appraisal reviews for certified professional personnel.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/ or EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or at least four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working in secondary education, career and technical education, counseling and community networking preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Oklahoma Secondary School Counselor’s certificate.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Career testing experience preferred. Thorough knowledge of general management practices and teaching methods. Ability to deal effectively with the public and school officials. Good working knowledge of the operating practices of technology education. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Provide career guidance and counseling to students to assist them to make plans and adjustments in solving their career, educational and personal problems.
2. Provide assistance in determining occupational objectives suited to interests and needs of the students.
3. Provide individuals with information to assist in realistic career planning.
4. Obtain and make available career information for students and staff.
5. Counsel students based on self-referral or staff recommendation.
6. Make appropriate referrals to outside agencies.
7. Maintain positive working relationship with WTC staff.
8. Assist instructors to prevent discipline problems or develop strategies to deal with discipline problems.
9. Promote and maintain good working relations with counselors, special education teachers and administrators at partner schools.
10. Schedule and conduct tours for all who are interested in visiting the school facilities.
11. Work closely with Guidance and Testing Division at the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.
12. Work with other members of Students Services Committee on whatever functions are scheduled, such as Open House, Sophomore Tours and Eighth Grade Event.
13. Maintain membership and active participation in professional organizations.
14. Provide or acquire assessments including interest and abilities for all incoming students.
15. Provide to the Enrollment Official assessments results of student’s occupational needs, work history, interests and abilities prior to (for post-secondary students) or as part of the enrollment process (for secondary students).
16. Provide appropriate assessment procedures and instruments to be administered to students within special population groups.
17. Serve as the campus contact prior to IEP meetings concerning appropriate placement of students based on the results of career assessment instruments.
18. Interpret assessment and test results to students and staff members as necessary.
19. Establish procedures concerning the confidentiality of assessment results based upon the ethical standards for the Association for Assessment in Counseling (AAC) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
20. Work with Academic Center staff as an assessment resource regarding student need for academic assistance.
21. Cooperate with other members of the staff in doing whatever is necessary to have a smooth-running operation of the school, whether or not the task is identified on a job description.
22. Serve as the Civil Rights Compliance Officer for the Sayre Campus.
23. Perform other duties that may require attention in the day-to-day operation of Western Technology Center.
